Stories of Hope

You may feel like you will never break the cycle of addiction or you must bear your burden alone. But against all odds, there is hope. CrossRoads was founded on this “against all odds” mentality, and our team is here to be part of your battle.

Let these stories of hope from our men be proof: freedom is possible!

Edwin - Life Line Program Graduate

“How can I trust in a God who sent his son to die for me, who knows my name, whose blood covers me, let a child go through that [sexual abuse]? That is what led me to drugs.”

Edwin grew up in a Christian home. He knew that God sent His son to die for him, but he didn’t know why that same God allowed him to be sexually abused as a young child. This question plagued him and led him into a battle with drug addiction. When Edwin came to CrossRoads, he learned to work through his problems and address them with a newfound faith. He took a leap that has now restored him to his family, brought him sobriety, and given him a new job. Edwin is a part of our work program and now helps to train other men to build their professional and life skills as part of their own recovery.

Doug - Life Line Program Graduate and House Manager

“I was tired; I had been fighting alcoholism for 20 years…if you want to know where you need to be in life, look where God is working. God is working at CrossRoads.”

After a long battle with alcohol addiction saw him requiring hospitalization, Doug’s family knew he had to make a change. Through a family connection with Joe, Doug ended up leaving straight from the hospital to go to CrossRoads Freedom Center. Little did he realize this was, in the words of CFC recovery coach Bill Mayer, his “divine appointment.”  What started as a work of recovery of life turned into a recovery of the soul. Doug has now graduated from our programs and works to guide other men who have shared his same trials on their journey to freedom. Doug came to us looking for a second chance: what he found alongside that second chance was brotherhood and accountability.

Eric-Life Line Program Graduate

“I tried to do it [recovery] by myself…I wasn’t relying on God.”

Eric had struggled with a life of drug abuse. He got to a point where he thought that his drug addiction was going to be what defined his life: he felt there was no way he could come back from what he had done. After several attempts at looking within to find recovery, Eric looked to God. He had seen God’s hand in the lives of others, and with his relationship with his family, wife, daughter, and all he held dear on the line, he took a leap of faith and began his journey with CrossRoads. He slowed down, relinquished control, and let God work a wonder in his life! In January of 2023, Eric graduated and is walking a life of freedom in Christ. He has a job in the autobody industry and is relearning how to be the husband and father he was called to be.
